The Youth Commission serves as the liaison between the Board of Supervisors and the county’s youth. This enables the Supervisors to interact on a personal level with the county’s youth, and thereby address their specific issues and concerns. The Supervisors’ vision is that the Commission serves three major purposes:
- First, the Commission is charged with advising the Board of Supervisors and county agencies on current, youth-related issues and working to develop youth-focused strategic visions for the future..
- Second, the Commission makes recommendations to enhance and expand the resources for youth related programs and projects.
- Third, the Commission prepares an annual report to the Board of Supervisors on their accomplishments and their activities for the year.
The role of the legislative intern is to serve as staff support for these youth.
